At the MCTE convention two years ago in Rochester, Mike Hazzard and David Bengston presented their collaboration in creating video poetry in Bengston's classroom.  Media Mike Hazzard's organization, the Center for International Education, hosts his blog which includes multimodal posts.

In August, he updated his video poetry post to add to "23 Ways of Looking at Video Poetry."  It's clear that Hazzard's intended audience is educators, particularly those who could hire him for his videography residencies.  At the same time, though, his audience could be considered artists in general because of his mixing of poetry, creative philosophy and visual art.  Vlog postings on the site range from documentary clips to animations.  The diversity of his links makes the site worth mining for those with an interest in visual literacy.  I particularly appreciate his links to Billy Collins' Action Poetry and poetryfoundation.org. 

Last fall, students in my class created video poems and a favorite of mine is Kori's interpretation of "The Mountain and the River" by Pablo Neruda.  The assignment was an experiment that really worked for some students to deepen their reading.  I'd like to try to continue to experiment with using vlogs not so much for instruction, but for student performance of understanding of text.  I found an overwhelming number of individual bloggers posting videos of their own poetry at both fireant and mefeedia.  It seems to definitely be part of online culture.
